Together, We Can End Homelessness in Brisbane and Beyond
Sheltered by Grace: Building Communities that Heal
In South-East Queensland, the homelessness crisis has reached alarming levels. According to the Brisbane Zero 2023–24 Collaborative Snapshot, 2,385 individual adults in Brisbane are or have been sleeping rough—on the streets, in parks, tents, cars, or cycling in and out of motels and emergency accommodation. Of these, 1,168 reported sleeping rough at some point during the year.
The same report indicates that 84% of individuals on the By-Name List still require permanent housing, highlighting a significant gap in available crisis and emergency accommodation.

Meanwhile, the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement Annual Report 2023–2024 notes that over 10,997 people across Queensland were linked with temporary emergency accommodation via outreach services—an inadequate response to the scale of need.
This data underscores the urgent need for increased crisis accommodation and long-term housing solutions in Brisbane and the broader South-East Queensland region.
While many community organisations do great work supporting people on the street, what we desperately need are emergency and crisis accommodation options that lead to long-term solutions.
Now is the time to act. Fundraising for the homeless is not just a donation—it’s a direct intervention in someone’s life. With every dollar you raise or contribute, you’re helping the homeless move off the streets and into a structured, supportive environment. If you’ve been searching for a Brisbane homeless shelter that delivers proven impact, you’ve found it.
We Take in the People Others Turn Away
A Proven Model That Transforms Lives
Our model works. We’ve supported over 1,000 people in the past 15 years. Around 25% have achieved lasting sobriety, employment, and long-term housing—a success rate far beyond sector averages for high-needs individuals, where published outcomes are typically in the single digits.
We are the “pre-Common Ground” model: where Common Ground provides permanent supportive housing, we provide 24/7 supported accommodation to help people stabilise first. We take those others can’t or won’t—people who are suicidal, unmedicated, in crisis, disconnected from family.
We’ve built the community they’re seeking. We are NOT government funded, but are supported by fundraising, grants and donations from you, the community. Your fundraising can help break the cycle of homelessness. By supporting our Brisbane homeless shelter, you're not just giving someone a place to sleep—you’re giving them a future.
When you fundraise for us, you're investing in a proven solution to help end homelessness in our region.

Demand is Growing—So Must We
80+ people on the waitlist. We need to act now.
But demand is growing. We have a waitlist of over 80 people, and it rises weekly. It’s time to expand. We plan to establish three new communities—in Brisbane, Ipswich, and the South Burnett—each housing at least 80 people. Each site will cost $3m–$5m to purchase, approve, and build. Designs include caravan/tourist parks with cabins and caravans, and acreage sites with container tiny homes like our Waterford site.
The design features a central hub with kitchen, bathroom, training, and community facilities, surrounded by individual cabins or caravans. This model, aligned with preferences in many Indigenous communities, fosters connection, storytelling, and shared living.
It also allows us to create multiple smaller communities within one site—such as rehabilitation, people escaping DV, women over 55, and youth—each with tailored support but part of a larger, inclusive environment.
This is where your fundraising efforts truly matter. The more support we raise, the faster we can open doors and create safe homes for those living rough. Join others fundraising for the homeless and be part of a movement that delivers tangible change.
We go above and beyond—this is what we do.
When the System Fails, We Step In
Our team goes above and beyond—this is what we do. When the system fails, Sheltered by Grace steps in.
Too often, people experiencing homelessness are left behind by the very systems meant to protect them. They fall through the cracks—unable to access crisis accommodation due to mental health issues, addiction, or a lack of identification.
This is where Sheltered by Grace makes a difference. We take people in when no one else will. Our doors are open 24/7, offering not just a bed, but a path forward. With wraparound services, trauma-informed care, and a safe, supportive environment, we meet people where they are—no matter how complex their situation may be.
If you're fundraising for the homeless or looking to support a Brisbane homeless shelter that never gives up, you're in the right place. Our programs for the homeless aren't just about shelter—they're about transformation, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
Because we are not government-funded, we rely on fundraising for the homeless and generous community support to keep going. Every act of kindness—every dollar fundraised—helps us keep beds open, provide 24/7 care, and offer people another chance at life. When all hope seems lost, Sheltered by Grace remains standing in the gap.
Designed for healing, connection, and lasting change.
